1. Who we are

Linlithgow Web Design is an independent web design studio based in Linlithgow, West Lothian, Scotland. For UK GDPR purposes, the data controller is Linlithgow Web Design, contactable at linlithgowwebdesign@gmail.com.

2. What data we collect

Contact form: When you use the enquiry form, we collect your first name, business name, email address, what you need, and your message. This is processed via Netlify Forms and emailed to our Gmail.

Emails: If you email us directly, we store your email address and correspondence.

Technical: Basic server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited) may be collected by our hosting provider (Netlify) for security and performance.

3. Legal basis

• Legitimate interest — to respond to your enquiry and provide web design services.
• Consent — where you opt in to a future optional service.
• Contract — if we enter into a £199 + £29/mo agreement, we process data to fulfil that contract.

4. How we use your data

• To reply to enquiries and provide quotes
• To build and support your website
• To send invoices via Stripe (payment data is handled by Stripe, not stored by us)
• To improve our website and comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your data. We do not send marketing emails unless you explicitly ask.

5. Third parties

• Netlify Forms — processes contact form submissions and forwards to our email. Submissions are stored in Netlify's dashboard. Their privacy: https://www.netlify.com/privacy/
• Google Fonts — loads Syne and Instrument Sans/Serif. Google may log IP address. https://policies.google.com/privacy
• Stripe — if you pay deposit, payment is processed by Stripe. We don't see card details.
• Netlify hosting — hosts this site, may collect anonymised logs.

6. Cookies

We do not use advertising or analytics cookies:

• Google Fonts: Fonts are requested from Google. Google may receive your IP address; see its privacy policy above.
• No analytics by default: We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel or advertising cookies. If we add analytics, this policy will be updated and an appropriate consent choice added.

You can block cookies in your browser settings. The site will still work.

7. Data retention

Enquiry data is kept for up to 24 months, or for the duration of your contract plus 6 years for accounting (UK legal requirement for invoices). You can request deletion sooner.

• Object to processing or request restriction
• Data portability
• Withdraw consent at any time
• Lodge a complaint with the ICO (https://ico.org.uk)

9. Data storage & transfers

Enquiry data is stored in Netlify Forms and Gmail (Google). We do not intentionally transfer data outside the UK/EEA beyond these processors and the safeguards they provide.

10. Children

This site is not intended for under-16s. We do not knowingly collect children's data.
